Medicine Woman’s Prayer

“I will not rescue you,

for you are not powerless.

I will not fix you,

for you are not broken.

I will not heal you,

for I see you in your wholeness.

I will walk with you through the darkness,

as you remember your light.”

— Sheree Bliss Tilsley

Individual Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is an intentional space, in which there is an opportunity to pause from the demands of daily life, slow down, and reconnect with your mind-body. It is a time to explore, feel, process, bring awareness to patterns, integrate, and receive support.

Psychotherapy can support you to cultivate self-awareness, identify patterns that have come to shape your life, reconnect with your deeply held values and desires, and gain practical skills to build your capacity to manage stress and difficult emotions.

Together, we will collaboratively establish therapeutic goals that act as a means to support and challenge you to shift patterns so that you can live a life more connected to your body, mind, and spirit.

I strive to embody an empathic, grounded presence that creates a safe container for exploration and inquiry. I bring an intuitive, compassionate curiosity to the therapeutic relationship, equipped with a healthy dose of playfulness and humour.

I operate from the belief that YOU are the expert of your life experience, not me. I see my role as a guide to work WITH you. My wish is for you to feel empowered throughout our time together.

My therapeutic approach is holistic and integrative. I draw from various modalities, which you can learn more about below. Our sessions will go beyond simply talking, but also will involve experiential exercises such as, meditation, mindfulness, breath work, embracing the power of the body and senses in the healing process.

Session fees:

$165 per 50 minute session

I also offer a moderate sliding scale option, which can be discussed on a case-by-case basis. Limited spots available.

Therapeutic Modalities Integrated

  • Based on the premise that we all have different “parts” within ourselves, each with their own unique feelings, beliefs, and motivations. These parts can either be in harmony or in conflict with one another. Some parts may have taken on extreme roles in order to protect us. Some parts are adaptive and oriented to time and space, where they are driving our successes and achievements. Other younger parts may be trapped in the past, holding onto past traumas, including feelings of fear and shame.

By understanding and engaging with our “parts”, IFS provides an empowering opportunity to cultivate self-compassion, self-acceptance, and resolve inner conflicts.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization + Reprocessing (EMDR) is an extensively researched form of therapy, which is effective in treating symptoms of PTSD and trauma. It operates from the premise that negative beliefs, feelings, and behaviours are the result of unprocessed memories.

In session, clients are asked to focus on a specific traumatic memory with attention given to the negative image, belief, and body sensations related to this memory. Clients are then asked to focus on a positive belief that would indicate the issues was resolved. While focusing on the distressing memory, the therapist will begin sets of side-to-side eye movements or tapping and the client will be guided to notice what comes to mind after each set. Experiences include shifts in insight or changes in images, feelings, or beliefs regarding the past event, including a reduction of distress associated with the memory.

  • ‘Soma’ is a Greek word that means ‘the body living in its wholeness’. Somatics is an inquiry into knowing ourselves and the world around us, by listening to the body and its language (which is sensation-based).

A somatic approach differs from top-down modalities that encourage people to follow an outside-in formula for change and healing, somatic learning guides you to form a unique and FELT relationship with yourself and your own wisdom, by connecting with the felt sense: bringing our presence and awareness to the sensations, feelings, emotions, and images contained and spoken by our nervous systems.

I draw from somatic techniques from somatic psychology, and a variety of different modalities, including Somatic Experiencing, Focusing, Trauma-Informed Yoga, and Hakomi.

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy is a form of behavioural therapy that supports clients to build psychological flexibility, self-acceptance, and engage in committed action in accordance to one’s values.

Mindfulness skills are offered to support the client to stay in contact with the present moment, regardless of difficult thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations (Acceptance). The client is support to identify and pursue actions that are aligned with their values (Commitment).

Psychedelic Support

In recent years, there has been a resurgence of interest in the healing potential of psychedelic medicines and non-ordinary states of consciousness in general. While these experiences have the potential to be profoundly transformative, they may also be deeply disorienting and challenging without adequate support.

While I cannot condone the use of illegal substances as a regulated professional in Ontario, I do operate from a harm reduction approach. As such, I am passionate about providing education and creating a safe space for individuals to openly explore their intentions, expectations, and concerns surrounding these medicines.

I have extensive experience providing psychedelic preparation and integration support in both my personal and professional spheres. I worked as a Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapist for 2.5 years at Field Trip Health clinic in Toronto. I am passionate about supporting others to navigate psychedelic experiences with greater intention, care, and respect in order to mitigate risks and maximize potential benefits.

I can support you with:

  • Resourcing — assisting you to develop tools and practices to cultivate a sense of safety and awareness within yourself prior to engaging with psychedelics

  • Education about best practices when preparing for, navigating, or integrating a psychedelic experience

  • Intention setting

  • Exploring themes, emotions or challenges arisen during the experience

  • Guidance around how to vet a potential psychedelic facilitator or retreat

  • Integration therapy to support the weaving of insights gained from a psychedelic experience into one’s life in a meaningful and embodied way

Breathwave

I am currently in the process of completing certification as a Breathwave facilitator.

Breathwave is a gentle + ceremonial style of conscious connected breath work. This modality of breathwork is facilitated with the breather laying down, receiving verbal and hands-on support from a facilitator to promote healing by correcting unhelpful breathing patterns.

Learning to bring present moment awareness to a conscious connected breathing practice can support:

  • accessing, integrating + processing unexpressed emotions

  • resolve limiting beliefs about oneself

  • regulating the nervous system

  • deepening our connection to ourselves and others

  • expanding our neural potentiality for wholeness

Our breathing is a direct reflection of our relationship with life. Breathing is generally limited and unconscious; in fact, the average person only accesses 20 - 30% of their breathing capacity. Conscious awareness of our breathing can support increasing our openness + aliveness in life, supporting personal growth, balanced relationships, and optimal health.
